Let's talk about tempering
Hardening by the sun
Compared to air, water has a stronger thermal conductivity and heat capacity. For example, water with a temperature of + 26˚ acts in the same way as exposure to air at a temperature of + 5˚. Because of this, quenching with water has a more powerful tempering effect. It is very important to be careful in applying this method of hardening. At the same time, the benefits of such hardening are great, children are not afraid of temperature changes, hypothermia and gusty wind. They rarely get sick and such babies have high immunity.
The fastest way to teach a child to this kind of hardening is washing and rubbing. Already after the first weeks of life, the baby’s face is wiped with a cotton swab dipped in warm water. Babies wash their faces and hands, after a year they should wash their face, neck, hands, torso, and water without soap, after the procedures they wipe the child dry. Children 3-4 years old spend washing and rubbing to the waist, older children are taught to self-rubdown.
Hardening water for babies up to a year is as follows:
from birth to 3 months.
From 3 to 9 months
The procedures are the same as in the previous age, only the back and chest are added to the rubdown.
From 9 months up to 1 year
Procedures are the same as they did, only now add a douche. This is done with a hose with a moderate pressure of water at a distance of about 25 cm from the child. Begin dousing from the back, then chest, tummy and end with handles. Be sure to wipe the baby dry after dousing. Begin douches at a water temperature of 34-37˚, lowering the temperature of the water once a week by one degree and bring to 28.
For children older than a year old, you can use a shower. The shower is useful in that it has a beneficial effect on sleep and appetite, it invigorates and tones the nervous system. Begin the procedure with a water temperature not lower than 36˚, gradually reducing it by a degree every week, bringing to 28˚. For children 3 years old, water is reduced to 24˚.
It is very good to use foot baths, which are sufficiently effective for the prevention of various acute respiratory infections. This procedure is performed at bedtime, the required water temperature for children up to three years is 34-36˚ every week, reducing by one degree, we bring the water temperature to 22-24˚, we continue to lower by 1 every 10 days, the maximum decrease to 18 ˚ and no lower. We lower the legs into the basin with water, to the ankles, the procedure lasts up to 3 minutes, after that it is necessary to wipe the legs dry.
Bathing in open water is one of the best methods of hardening, this method combines all types of hardening (sun, air and water). But because of its danger, bathing in ponds is not recommended for children up to 2-3 years old.It is important to consider a few simple rules when bathing:
After getting out of the water, the child is vigorously wiped dry and dressed.
Water quenching invigorates and excites a childTherefore, water procedures should be carried out in the morning or after kindergarten / school, child’s daytime sleep, but hardening is not recommended just before bedtime.
