The most terrible side of a relationship without obligation

We met at the club. You liked me, you liked me. We exchanged numbers, went for coffee, went for a drink, to the cinema. We did not want to somehow denote our relationship. We just had fun.

There were no obligations in our “non-relationship”. Nothing. Just me, you and fun.
And it was awesome. Liberating. Without guilt. None of us wanted commitments, so we removed them.

But the most frightening thing about such a relationship is fear. Fear of losing you, fear that such bright feelings can be replaced by pain, fear of sending a message and never get an answer.

Fear of crossing the border from “non-relationships” to real relationships. Fear of spoiling this fun.

We walked around the edge, afraid to take a step towards commitment or to parting.

Sometimes I wrote to you, and you answered: "We'll see." Did I say something stupid? Was that inappropriate? Does this mean you broke up with me?

And sometimes we talked all night. About our favorite movies, books, memories from childhood, about their dreams.

But every time I saw you, my heart began to beat faster. We ourselves did not know that between us, that there was clearly something. We did not want commitments, but we wanted to be together.

Probably, we wanted too much. Once the calls stopped, late conversations disappeared, and I didn’t know that the last time I saw you was the last one.
