"Do not deny, loving ...": the story of one of the most famous poems of Veronica Tushnova

On March 27, in 1911, Veronika Mikhailovna Tushnova was born - a poetess, on whose verses such popular songs as “One Hundred Hours of Happiness”, “You Know, Everything Will Be Still! ..”, “Do Not Renounce, Loving” are Written. Collections of her poems were not on the library shelves and on the shelves of bookstores.

The fact is that the pressing frankness and confession of her poetry were inconsistent with the time of collective enthusiasm. And even after perestroika, Tushnova’s poems were not much favored by Russian publishers. But they dazzled girls' diaries. These verses were copied, memorized, they sank into the soul to stay there forever.

Veronika Tushnova was born in Kazan. Her father was a teacher of microbiology, and later a full member of the All-Union Agricultural Academy. Lenin. The future poetess spoke excellent French and English, and after graduation she entered the medical faculty of Kazan University. So the father wanted, hoping that his daughter would continue his work. Veronika Mikhailovna finished her education in St. Petersburg, where her family moved. There she took up painting and began to write poetry.

In 1938, Veronica married, had a daughter. Before the war she entered the Literary Institute, but she did not have to study there, the war began. And after it - evacuation and work in the hospital. Veronika Tushnova returned to Moscow two years after the war. She broke up with her husband and released the first collection of poems. In the same year, the poetess became a member of the First Meeting of Young Writers and returned to the Literary Institute, but no longer a student, but the head of a creative workshop.

In the early 1950s, Veronika Tushnova married the writer (and later the editor-in-chief of the Detsky Mir publishing house) Yuri Timofeev. They lived together for about 10 years. But Veronika Mikhailovna, as a creative and impulsive man, could not give her husband what he was looking for: he wanted borscht and home comfort, but she didn’t have enough time for household chores.

Parting with her husband Tushnova experienced very hard, and it was in those days that she had the heartfelt lines, to which the popular songwriter Mark Minkov later wrote the music.

  • Not renounce loving,
  • After all, life does not end tomorrow,
  • I will stop waiting for you
  • And you come all of a sudden,
  • Not renounce loving.
  • And you come when it's dark,
  • When a blizzard hits the window,
  • When do you remember how long
  • We did not warm each other,
  • Yes, you will come when it is dark.
  • And so you want warmth
  • Not loved once,
  • What you can not wait
  • Three people at the machine,
  • Here's how you want warmth.
  • For this you can give everything,
  • And before I believe it,
  • What is difficult for me not to wait for you
  • All day, without leaving the door,
  • For this you can give everything.
  • Not renounce loving,
  • After all, life does not end tomorrow,
  • I will stop waiting for you
  • And you come all of a sudden,
  • Not renounce loving.

Veronika Tushnova
