7 things that happen to your body when you go to bed drunk

At first glance it may seem that being drunk, we fall asleep faster and sleep better, but actually drunk sleep can greatly harm our body: starting with impaired memory, attention and ending with loss of motor control ...
1. You quickly fall into a state of deep sleep (very quickly).

Your brain turns off almost immediately, skipping the first stage of sleep and going straight to the stage of deep sleep, so it’s very difficult to wake you up in the first couple of hours. You also have fewer REM phases in which the brain is activated and dreams appear.

2. Your heartbeat quickens.

When you are in this state of regenerative sleep, not everything is as calm as it seems. Although the body is immobilized by deep sleep, the heartbeat quickens, and the nervous system is more active than usual.

Pulse and blood pressure rise predominantly during the REM sleep phase a little later, but alcohol knocks down this process. That is why in the morning you feel not so rested, and with circles under your eyes.

3Disturbed sleep phase.

ANY amount of alcohol postpones or disrupts the later phases of REM sleep. Usually you go through 5-7 cycles of REM sleep, but alcohol reduces them to 1-2.

These phases are characterized by temporary paralysis of the body and vivid dreams (usually we see dreams for about 2 hours, whether we remember them or not). At this time, the brain is toned, processing all the emotions and memories received during the day. REM sleep is so important that if their number decreases (for example, because of alcohol), then you will have to finish the next night or day to catch up.
4. You are actively sweating.

Alcohol is a diuretic. In addition to the feeling of thirst and frequent urination, your body will actively sweat, because alcohol blocks the hormone that helps the body retain water. In the morning you wake up very dehydrated.

5. You snore.

Relaxing all the muscles of the body, including those in the throat, you can immediately start to snore loudly as soon as you fall asleep. In addition, alcohol can provoke sleepwalking, talking in a dream, memory loss.

6. You toss and turn while you sleep.

Towards morning, you become more sensitive to noise and you can wake up early. The effect of alcohol gradually passes, your body returns to the phase of REM sleep, during which it is easy to wake you up. That is why you often wake up after a few hours of sleep while you are drunk.

7. You wake up tired (and probably with a hangover).

You wake up sweaty, tired, a little depressed, plus a headache can be a reward.
